Our policies and reports

Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year.  Our policies address attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform and how we respond to your concerns.

Planning and reporting help us meet the needs of our community, improve the quality of teaching and enhance outcomes for all of our students.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Annual school report

Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement. It is the rigorous self-assessment by staff, parents and carers, as well as student leaders.

The report includes:

School excellence plan

Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.

The SEP is a working document that details the steps our school will take to improve learning outcomes, and the achievement and growth of all students. To ensure continuous improvement, the SEP reflects where our school is at and how it will further improve learning, teaching and leading.

It demonstrates our alignment and our commitment to excellence as part of public education in NSW to ensure a profound difference to the ongoing growth and development of our students.

School behaviour support and management plan

Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

Regular attendance at school is essential if students are to maximise their potential. By law, parents/caregivers are required to explain the absences of their children promptly and in writing to the school within seven days from the first day of absence.

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

Homework framework

Homework is a valuable part of schooling. It allows for practising, extending and consolidating work done in class. Homework provides training for students in planning and organising time and develops a range of skills in identifying and using information resources. Additionally, it establishes habits of study, concentration and self-discipline.

Internet usage framework

Students who use digital technologies are required to sign an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) user agreement.

Student health and safety

We are committed to ensuring a safe and happy environment for your child. We support your child’s health and safety through a range of strategies including:

For more information, visit the student wellbeing section of the department’s website.

Like all NSW public schools, we promote the healthy development of students through:

Too sick for school?

Generally if your child feels unwell, keep them home from school and consult your doctor. This chart helps to guide you.

Student wellbeing

Like all NSW public schools, we provide safe learning and teaching environments to encourage healthy, happy, successful and productive students.

The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.

The Wellbeing Framework for Schools helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

At our school, we use Positive Behaviour for Learning – a whole-school approach for creating a positive, safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and develop. Our whole school community works together to establish expected behaviours and teach them to all students.

Visit our school expectations page for more information.

Visit our student leadership page for more information on student leadership at our school.

Supervision of students

Teachers supervise from 8:35am at school in Area A on the Western Campus Office and under the cola on the Eastern Campus.

All students are expected to leave the playground at 3:05pm unless engaged in an activity conducted under the auspices of the school or parent group. Parents collecting students after school have a responsibility to collect them at 3:05 pm.

Where there has been some urgent or unforeseen circumstance, arrangements for collection of the student will be made by the school with one of the nominated contact adults. Families are advised to register their child with Arabanoo in case of urgent or unforeseen circumstance.

First aid

All injuries are recorded in a first aid/accident report register. Minor injuries are treated by school staff. Parents, or their emergency contact, are contacted by the school should the injury/illness require medical treatment.

Head lice

Students with head lice cannot be excluded from school. A member of staff will contact parents, or carers of students, affected and allow them to decide as to whether or not they collect their child from school immediately and treat the condition. When a case is detected the school will also notify all students in the affected class

Road safety

The bike, scooter and skateboard safety plan, outlines the processes for educating students in how to safely ride bikes, scooters and skateboards to and from school. The school community, including staff, the Parents and Citizens' Association, members of the Student Representative Council and wider parent body have been engaged in the development of this plan.
