Positive behavior engaging learners

Underpinning the school's student well-being framework is the Positive Behaviour Engaging Learners (PBEL) program. The program is a school-wide system for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviours. The program supports a positive environment in which learning and student engagement is enhanced through consistent expectations of behaviour. It incorporates a continuum of practices that include:

  • School-wide expectations including establishing clear consequences.
  • Formal instruction in social skills.
  • Helping students to regulate their own behaviour.
  • Helping teachers to intervene effectively to manage behaviour in both classroom and non-classroom environments.
  • Pro-active supervision in all areas of the school.
  • Regularly rewarding positive student behaviours.

  • Encourage and allow others to learn.
  • Follow instructions.

Responsibility

  • Be accountable for your own behaviour.
  • Show leadership by being a good role model.
